Sow Studio x Josh Page Studio Lamp

This collaboration brings together the practices of embroidery studio Sow Studio and furniture maker Josh Page, uniting textile and timber in a shared exploration of line, texture, and form. Rooted in a mutual appreciation for craftsmanship and materiality, the work translates the language of carved wood into stitch, creating a dialogue between the softness of textiles and the solidity of wood.

The lampbase is constructed from layers of Sapele, Beech and Yew. Each layer carved back to reveal the beautiful grain of each timber below. Organic yet sharp in form, complimenting the fluid shade embroidery. The lampshade takes inspiration from Josh’s lamp bases, echoing the fluid, organic lines embedded within the wood through stitch. Using appliqué, layers of fabric and threads the embroidery creates texture and depth that mimics the carved back grain of timber.
